the spring edit

I have come to realize that with the endless opportunity of things to buy in New York along with my uncanny ability to always find and want, dare I say “have to have”, the most expensive item in the store; when it comes to shopping I need one thing…a strategy. I now go into each season with a game plan of how I am going to achieve the look I want with a combination of staples and fun, oh so “trendy”, accents.

Here is a combination of my closet, and my shopbop wish list…

the pant.

Naturally I will begin with Rag n’ Bone. The store is conveniently located on the corner of Houston and Elizabeth, a perfect halfway point between the gym and my apartment. This shop has lured me into more post workout, endorphin fueled purchases than I would like to admit (including embroidered leather shorts). Anyways – item number one, these canary yellow skinnies.

I have already worn them, twice, despite the fact that its still snowing here in NYC (and wtf no one told me it still snows when it’s almost APRIL).

the shoe.

Purchase number two was a go to Spring heel. It had to be tall, relatively comfortable, and dark enough to not show the lovely dirt that covers Manhattan. But ugh I am so over black, so these were the perfect balance. The ankle strap is SUPER flattering, definitely works towards that endless legs look we’re all striving for. Mr. Vince, wherever you are, I love you.

the bag.

I need a new bag for spring, my Alexander Wang Rocco Duffel is literally falling apart. But the day bag may need to wait until I am home in California or mom visits me in New York, if you catch my drift ;). I’m currently dreaming of this Philip Lim. Until then, I’d love an accent clutch that brightens up my outfits. I like getting new bags (like shoes) because you use them so much more often than any clothing item and they can really change your look. I’m thinking this little guy, because really, who doesn’t love Rebecca Minkoff and mint?

the flat.

I love these loafers. And can you tell I love yellow right now?

the bikini.

I buy one a year, usually spend more than I should, but I figure I’m limiting myself to one so that makes it ok. Last year it was this reversible one by basta surf with hot pink straps, one side black and one side tan. And hey, reversible is like two suits for the price of one, right?

Though I may be jumping the gun on this one since I can see snow outside, I usually buy suits in March (this is possibly due to the college spring break bug, which I just can’t shake). This year I’m thinking this one by Mara Hoffman and Ash is thinking about this one by Zinke. Accidentally but not surprisingly  coordinated – we’ll look great in pics together on our Figure 8 Island Memorial Day Beach Weekend!

the basics.

Some tees from Everlane (my new obsession) – cheap, soft and cute. Fresh new tees for spring are a must for me.

Cashmere sweaters from j crew  (call me lame but I kind of love j crew) for those chilly in-between days. I got a cute one in “nickel” that looks great with my yellow pants.

Some Dolce Vita flat sandals (I LIVED in them last spring/summer).
